Getting Started
Installing the SophieSMC toolkit into MetaTrader 5 takes about ten minutes. The Scanner is an indicator (it analyzes and never places trades); SophieSMC X is an Expert Advisor that executes and manages trades from the Scanner's plan.
Trading involves substantial risk.
SophieSMC software is an analytical and trade-management tool, not financial advice. Past performance — of any trader, system, or backtest — does not guarantee future results. Never trade with money you cannot afford to lose.
Download the build files
After purchase you will receive the compiled build files (per the license terms, delivery instructions follow purchase). You need two files:
SophieSMC_One.ex5— the Scanner indicator.SophieSMC_X.ex5— the X executor Expert Advisor.
Note: source files are not distributed. The versions referenced in this guide are the current verified builds (see Changelog).
Place the files in the right MQL5 folders
In MetaTrader 5, open File → Open Data Folder, then navigate into the MQL5 directory:
- Copy
SophieSMC_One.ex5intoMQL5/Indicators. - Copy
SophieSMC_X.ex5intoMQL5/Experts.
Then restart MT5, or right-click the Navigator window and choose Refresh. The Scanner appears under Indicators; X appears under Expert Advisors.
Attach the Scanner to an XAUUSD M15 chart
Open an XAUUSD chart on the M15 timeframe and drag the Scanner onto it from the Navigator. The recommended workflow uses multiple timeframes for context:
- H4 / H1 — define the primary directional bias.
- M15 — finds and saves the main fair-value-gap box for the setup.
- M5 — observes taps and rejections for finer timing context.
When attached, the Scanner draws its on-chart objects and opens the dashboard panel. The indicator draws only — it cannot place orders by itself.
Read the panel and the WAIT / BUY / SELL states
The top status panel always shows one of three states:
No qualified setup right now. The Scanner is watching structure but nothing has passed its filters.
A qualified bullish plan is active: entry, stop-loss, take-profit, and RR are published for X to use.
A qualified bearish plan is active, with entry, stop-loss, take-profit, and RR published.
A BUY or SELL state only appears after a plan clears the Scanner's gates: a valid FVG (or iFVG) structure, a quality score of at least 60%, and an RR of at least 1.00. Plans with RR below 0.70 are rejected; plans between 0.70 and 0.99 are forced to exactly 1.0R. Absence of a signal is information — it means no setup met the bar.
Review your risk settings before anything else
Open the Scanner's inputs and the X inputs and confirm these before any live use:
- Panel lot size. X takes its lot from the Scanner's panel suggestion. If the panel lot is missing, auto-entry waits — it does not guess. There is no percentage-of-balance auto-sizing; risk is controlled by the lot you accept.
- Auto-execution toggle. Decide whether X should execute automatically or you will place entries yourself and let X manage them (X can apply stop-loss protection, break-even, partials, and trailing to manual trades too).
- Spread cap and RR minimums. X validates spread, entry drift, and a live RR recheck before every entry, and keeps at most one position with anti-duplicate protection.
- Break-even and trailing. Break-even, partial-close, and ATR trailing features exist but are off or conservative by default — review the X inputs and enable only what you understand.
Attach X to the same chart and allow Algo Trading
Drag SophieSMC X onto the same chart as the Scanner. In MT5's toolbar, enable Algo Trading (the button must be pressed/green) — X cannot act without it.
X cannot generate signals on its own. It only executes the exact plan the Scanner publishes (entry, SL, TP, RR, setup type). Without the Scanner's published plan, X only manages existing positions. Both programs must be running on the same chart with MT5 open and connected.
Before you go live
- Demo-test first. Run the Scanner and X on a demo account long enough to see how plans appear, how the panel states change, and how X manages entries — before any real money is involved.
- Never risk money you cannot afford to lose. Trading leveraged instruments can wipe an account quickly. Size every position so that a full stop-loss is an amount you can absorb without stress.
- Understand the automation. Know which X inputs are enabled on your chart. Monitor automated trading; connection drops, broker requotes, and news spikes can change how orders fill.
The Scanner has no economic-calendar or news filter, no support/resistance scanner, and no gold-specific logic — it reads generic market structure on the chart it is attached to. Plan accordingly. See the Risk Disclosure for the full picture.
